What a Tech Pack Really Is — and Why It Protects Your Margins

Every great garment begins twice: once as a sketch, and once as a specification. The second is the tech pack — and it is the document that decides whether the finished piece matches the vision or drifts, seam by seam, into something you never approved.
The blueprint of apparel
A tech pack is to a garment what architectural drawings are to a building. It removes ambiguity from a process that spans continents, languages, and factory floors. A complete pack includes:
- Technical flats — precise front and back line drawings, drawn to proportion.
- Construction specifications — every seam, stitch, and finish, called out explicitly.
- Bill of materials (BOM) — fabrics, trims, threads, labels, and their exact placements.
- Size grading — how every measurement scales from your smallest size to your largest.
